October 3, 2001 - Bryce Canyon Hike

This was our layover day; not really a rest day since we ended up hiking about 8 miles through Bryce Canyon on the Fairyland Loop trail. This was the suggestion from our fearless leaders, and the entire group decided to hike. Usually there are a few folks who want to go their own way, but most of us got along well and wanted to spend another day together.

The hike started at the rim, just inside the park. The picture on the left is of Silvey (in red) and Nancy leading the way. Silvey was usually first, being the fastest hiker and the one taking the fewest breaks. There were some beautiful sights, very similar to Red Canyon, but we had the luxury of taking our time inspecting the landscape up close. Here is Kerie in her goofy hat.

Once again I went a little overboard on taking pictures. I think that having a digital camera allows me to be more spontaneous in taking pictures since after the initial investment, there is very little cost involved in acquiring the images. Here is a selection of photos from the hike:
