Today we started our 5th of 7 Section maps, and we are having our 2,000 mile party tonight that will probably consist of an extra bag of cookies. We continued to work our way toward Louisiana, through farmland and pine forest. There was a long stretch through the Sam Houston National Forest, a nice piece of road through a wall of pine trees. The roar of trucks passing at 70mph disturbed the silence and brought me back from any daydreaming I might have been doing. Most of route 150 was like that, a two lane road with trucks flying by, barely slowing to pass.

I stopped on the bridge over Lake Conroe to eat a sandwich and watch a large flock of white and black pelicans headed to the coast. From the lake to Coldspring there were several dogs that chased me as I reached into my front pannier to grab my pepper spray. None came close enough so I didn't have to use it.

We are camped on the shores of Livingston Reservoir, one of the few manmade lakes that look natural, with a large island in the middle. Dinner will be late since we had a long day and some of us were late getting into camp. I'm sitting on a bluff overloking the lake with a pink sky reflected on the water and herons flying by, with Janet and Bob directly behind me trying to get dinner fixed before dark. Most of us are content to sit and relax after a long day.

p.s. Lynne had her second flat in two days, after not having a flat until now. Her tire is so hard to get off the rim that it took 3 people to get it off last night. When it went flat today, Todd, Oliver, and Bruno eventually came by to help fix it.
