The WIND! It howled all night, and continued during the day. It was in our faces the entire day, making for a long, hot, tiring day. We started into town using the same route as the day before, only earlier so that rush hour was in full swing, and cars were reluctant to give us much room. I rode most of the day alone, until I met Bruno toward the end of the ride and we rode in together. Others spent time visiting stores in town, Oliver getting new prescription sunglasses at REI, Jim getting a radio and headlamp, and Suzanne taking pictures of it all, surprised that Christmas decorations were already up, and being scolded by the clerks for taking pictures in the store. Spike got a new triple chainring, getting ready for the upcoming climbs.
Bruno and I made it to camp early, which meant I could relax for a while before buying and fixing dinner with Tod (the English Tod, with one d). The camp is busy, there being some other tent campers as neighbors for the first time. We survived the dinner ordeal of vegetables and rice and salad, Tod being responsible for the chicken on the side. Tommorow we climb to the town of Globe, AZ, which is supposed to be a scenic route.
