Daytona Beach
This was a layover day with a 40-mile loop ride planned. It was also the day when we were allowed to ride on the Daytona Speedway. We got an early start as there was a relatively short window of time when we could be on the track. The banked turns are incredibly steep; one doesn't get the sense of how steep from TV images. They were so steep that we were told not to ride on them, with bouncers stationed alongside to make sure we didn't.
Later we rode out along the packed sand beach for a few miles avoiding all the spring break sun worshipers. Dinner was a short walk from the motel to the student cafeteria at Daytona Beach College.
